Do you or does someone you know struggle with mosquitos? Looking for something that won’t kill you or the environment? Tired of using chemicals and sticky sprays? We’ve got a suggestion for you. All Natural Protection from Mosquitno.
Disclosure: The makers of Mosquitno provided samples of their products for us to test. We were not financially compensated and the opinions expressed here are based our own experience.
When we travel one of the first things we check out is: will there be mosquitos? Diana, our fearless co-founder, is highly allergic to mosquitoes. When she gets a bite it becomes a huge welt and if she get several bites – and for some reason she usually gets more than one – she could end up in bed for several days feeling sick and painfully itchy. There’s something called “Skeeter Syndrome” for those who have severe allergic reactions to mosquito bites and we’re pretty sure that describes her.
Of course, another reason to stay away from mosquitoes is the numerous diseases they carry. Even if you’re not allergic to them, avoiding mosquito bites is just a good idea.
So far the only thing that has worked reliably for us has been insect repellant that contains DEET. Like many of you, we don’t relish using these type of chemical products. They’re not great for the environment and the jury is out as to whether they are trouble for humans too.
When we heard about Mosquitno we had to give them a try. Mosquitno sells all-natural citronella infused wristbands that repel mosquitoes, flies gnats and the pesky no-see-ums. The bands last for 6 days or 150 hours of exposure. Just put them back into their handy resealable package to retain its effectiveness when you’re not using it. The Mosquitno bands are non-toxic, DEET-free and waterproof. Perfect for all your outdoor activities. They available in 12 colors including a fun tie-dye version.
I tried the braided band on my ankle while working around the yard and on my daily walks, and it really kept the mosquitos away from me. No bites in 10 times of use, so I’m pretty happy about that.
They also sell Mosquitno Spotz, which have the same natural citronella ingredients in a small sticker that you can adhere to any area you want extra protection. I’d suggest adding them to your pulse points – ankles, wrists and neck to keep those nasty biters away.
Mosquitno bands and Spotz are available online and at many retail locations. The braided bands will be available on their website next month.
QUICK BITE: If you want to keep the bugs from biting you in a way that’s safe for you and the environment try all-natural protection from Mosquitno bands and Spotz.
